I found that adding subviews to cell is easier than implementing custom cells. In your case, with two labels in one cell, that looks easy enough to do.

Check the Alpha and Background of your UITableViewCell view in nib file.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
