In Great Britain's former colony, the United States of America, the "English" haven't been "getting off so easy" for several hundred years. Strange attitude IMO, since the Americans who fomented the American Revolution were "English", and the "English" chased away France, The Netherlands, and Spain, who had also planted colonies in America and who also exploited the Native Americans and the Native Africans. Spain was doing it before the other three came across the Atlantic, and were more brutal than the other three.
All the gold that came from South and Central America was mined by slaves of Spain. All the European powers were as bad as each other when colonizing and enslaving, including the Portuguese, the Germans and the Belgians - and they all pointed their bloody fingers at each other's atrocities too.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
