Cash for clunkers - where did the money go?

The rules are very stringent - most people I know have been rejected for technicalities. And what will $2 billion yield? Stretches my imagination and the credibility seems to me.

Computer difficulty and administration problems, also I think second thoughts about doing this ... In my mind this was the best idea this democratic congress had, yet look, it is a small program, dealing with a relatively small amount of money and they are already having problems handling it. Health Care is going to involve huge amounts of money and much more complicated situations --- I mean if they have trouble with used car sales, should we really promote them to brain surgery? (Health Care) Let Government go back to doing what it does best ... which is NOT MUCH!

LIMITED GOVERNMENT is best! .

I think the Cash for Clunkers money is gone....temporarily! We went to a car dealers yesterday and the salesmen were so busy it took 10 minutes to be waited on! You know how the salesmen usually pounce on you?

Not now! And my suspicion was proven right...the govt came up with $2 billion more money. It's a win-win situation!

People buy cars, it puts people to work, those workers pay taxes, and the economy gets some stimulation! Plus the country may be a bit 'greener'! .

1 Please consider a rudimentory math class 1 billion divided by 4000 is 250,000. I think the real "waste" of money here is that the program should have been limited to American cars - right now it's just a giveaway of government funds to foreign car companies.

2 I agree..............American cars only! The other thing that is wrong is many people who actually buy on a regular basis say every three years, and keep a loan on their cars, and always pay their houses and bills: GET NOTHING! No incentives!

How many people ran out and bought a clunker.......just to trade it in for 4500 bucks or more? Far more than one considers I suspect!Blessings.........Annlee .

Peppercat replied to post #1: 3 Ooops - math math - you are right - but still! And I so agree about American cars - but I believe that there are a lot of 'so called' foreign cars that have agreements with say GM and Chrysler so it somehow counts...
