I'm still looking for the perfect dog-walking camera. Although I have had SLRs and DSLRs for 40 years, when dog-walking I used to use a little Canon s400 compact that fitted in a belt pouch, and when that died I used a Fuji 9100, and now a Windows smartphone. That Fuji bridge camera was actually the easiest to handle (often one-handed) as the little cameras can be easily dropped or grabbed awkwardly.
Dog-walking and changing a lens on a DSLR was never particularly easy, so I'd only take it on planned photo trips. The Fuji in a holster style pouch with a broad shoulder strap worked out fine... dog things &, wallet ect could be carried in it too. If you want a larger-sensor modern compact then you have to abandon the idea of a super-zoom, with this exception: I think a new Canon G3X is what could suit you best.

Sony RX100 is among the best in this category. The Canon G series is another compact point and shoot, but I'd rather have the RX100 III or IV. Your other option is to go mirrorless with something like a Panasonic GH7, or a Fujifilm X series.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
