Actually, the thing is, a religious person can never beat an atheist in a debate (not even a muslim). If an atheist converts to Islam, after a debate with a muslim, it means either that the atheist don't know how to break the points, or the atheist doesn't know much about atheism. If Islam can break all the atheistic points, any religion can do it.
And the other way that an atheist may believe in Islam, is by self-beating. Learning more about Islam by themselves, and believing that Islam is true, but if that happens, it also means that the atheist doesn't know how to break the points or doesn't know much about atheism. This doesn't mean that I'm an atheist.
Yes, I'm a muslim, but I (personally) really don't think that a religious person can beat an atheist, in a debate, even so, I know that being in a religion is better than being an atheist, because... (Well, it's hard to explain. I guess after I came back to Islam, after being an agnostic, things are just a little different inside my brain :/). I just can't believe in the existence of life, without a God, anymore.
:/ My brain says that it doesn't make sense. A Quote from a blog, by an ex-muslim atheist (which I find interesting. It does make sense):- "It’s funny how everyone is brought up to believe that their religion is “the right one”.
Growing up, we were always told that we were just so lucky to be Muslims because we will go to heaven and everyone else will go to hell. I always wondered how we knew we were right. We were taught that god sent many prophets for his people, even before the three major religions, and they kept getting it wrong.
Then the basics of the 3 major religions came about. Moses was sent for his people and the Jews got it wrong too! Later Jesus was sent to his Christians followers and they eventually got it wrong again!
THEN… Mohammad was sent for the Muslims… And that was it! All of a sudden people got it right! It was PERFECT and he was the LAST prophet.
It is important to emphasize the word last, so no one else can try to come after him and say they are prophets. They believed that the book was perfect and not altered and it was the holy word of god… 'How do Muslims know they didn’t get it wrong? They just do.
Because their prophet and his book said so. The same way the Jews and the Christians know they got it right.
The problem with Islam is first and foremost they believe that god exists, that he created people and that people are obligated to submit to his over-lordship. I believe none of those things so whatever else Islam has to say, I can never revert until Islam admits that those teachings are false. Yes I have read Islam's holy book as well as many other sacred texts from many other religions and found none of them any better than another nor more convincing than any other.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
