Help! We wanted to watch videos from the computer on the big screen tv. We have a HP Media Center and Sharp Aquos.
We connected the two using a HDMI cable. We got the video on tv and it looks great. However, there is no audio!?
I'm using windows Vista and changed the default sound output from speakers to HDMI output. I was on hold with HP customer service for 2 hours and they eventually decided that it is the settings in the TV that is not right, causing no audio!? I have been trying to fiddle with the TV but with no success.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem? I'd LOVE to watch my computer video files from the TV with the TV speakers.. thanks! Asked by Chiwawa 39 months ago Similar questions: Connected HP Computer Sharp Aquos HDMI cable video audio Help Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.

Pretty sure its the tv I have a Sony LCD and in there you have to specify what video/audio input is going to use for each input. For example, if you have the HDMI plugged in Video 3 then in your tv settings somewhere you have to change the video 3 audio settings to HDMI. I had this same issue with the Sony.
Hopefully this helps with your Sharp .
Your HDMI out port may not be set up correctly Most video cards I have seen that support HDMI out have an audio cable that needs to be attached to the video card in able to actually send the audio signal. Most cards only support video through their video cards. You can always just hook up your speakers to the audio ports on the back of the computer.
Open the case and make sure there is an audio cable connected to your video card, if it's not there, I would suspect it wasn't built correctly or it just doesn't support audio.
2 you may need to see if your computer is supplying audio output via the HDMI connection. Does your media center PC have a native HDMI port, or are you using a DVI to HDMI converter cable? If you are using a converter, then that is why your not getting sound.
DVI is a video only port, where-as HDMI can carry both signals if they are both supplied. Hope this helps.

4 the correct answer is the one about changing audio playback settings on the laptop. You MUST make the HDMI the default audio option to hear thru the TV. It works great.
NOW, I've got issues with video. I want to see both the laptop screen and TV when using HDMI. I could until today.
I can't recall what video setting that is.

JoeyF replied to post #4: 5 I'm having the same problem connecting my hp laptop to my sharp aquous tv. No audio, i'll try the solution tonight. My other issue is the not being able to see both the laptop screen and TV when using HDMI.
The tv just says format not recognised. Did you manage to get this sorted in the end? .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
