Could my 17 yr. old Maine coon be going blind? He's always had large pupils, as the picture shows?

Blind cats can lead happy and healthy lives. My malayan has Progressive Retinal Atrophy and he lives on my parents' ranch and goes in and out, he even catches birds and mice. If his pupils don't dilate at all that's not a good sign.

But, it may be something other than glaucoma, and it doesn't mean you don't have time left with him. Talk to your vet ASAP.

We have two Russian blues and the tom has had cataracts since he was a kitten. This sometimes makes the pupil look big and sometimes cloudy - depends on the light and your angle of sight. We have never done anything about it, not wanting to put him through the trauma of an operation.

He's nine now and he manages fine. Humans often assume that animals are like we are. Smell is the most important sense to a cat not sight, which is poorly developed by our standards and largely used by the cat to detect movement when hunting.

Ours runs along walls, jumps gaps, doesn't bump into things and certainly doesn't know he's disabled! Hope this helps.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
