I do enjoy fine dining without consuming any wine. I usually drink seltzer water, spring water, or iced tea with my meals and although it has been an interesting transition from once enjoying wine with my meals to now and for the past few years enjoying my meals without the added pleasure of a glass or bottle of wine I have found the food at a fine dining restaurant is usually great food with or without wine. I miss the complexities and nuances explored and discovered while pairing wine with food.
I have also tried to enjoying a root beer with many fine dining meals and have had some great experiences as I have found the non-alcoholic beverage pairs quite well with many steak dishes and any really hearty meal. My favorite fine dining restaurants in this area actually serve root beer and have all along but I just did not know this and had not asked until just a few years ago while searching for something else to drink with my meal that would compliment the food as well as wine would. Root beer is still a special treat (like wine) to have while enjoying a fine dining meal and I continue to explore the non-alcoholic beverage menus for interesting food/beverage pairing possibilities.
I actually am not a huge wine fan so I almost always do. I usually drink Shirley Temples.. or if I'm in a booze mood a cocktail. We went to dinner last night actually.. I had this delicious thing called a Kahlua dream.. it tasted like strawberry milkshake... fine Russian raspberry vodka, Kahlua, cream, and grenadine.. blended ice drink with whip cream and a cherry.
I shall be making it for myself sometime.
Of course! A good beer will always beat a wine! But you won't find good beer in most restaurants.
You have to go to a brewpub which has good food, or one of just a few restaurants where the chef appreciates good beer. In the New Orleans area Chef John Besh is known for having a craft brewer brew a custom beer for his restaurant.
Yes, definitely. It's a completely valid question though, as I know some people who really can't. I understand where they're coming from, but I'm not in love with wine as much as other people so I'm fine with having a number of different drinks instead.
Even water with dinner can still be fine, and it's probably healthier than whatever else I was going to drink. That being said, since I'm not in love with pairing wine with food, the argument could be made that I'm missing out on a certain dynamic that other people experience with their high quality and pricey meal. Perhaps I'll begin to drink wine a little more often and then realize what I've been missing all this time.
I agree I could enjoy fine dining without the wine. I'm not fond of drinking wine with food. But I do enjoy a glass of wine now and then at the end of the day.
Since I haven't been able to drink alcohol because of the medications I am for many years now, yes I know I could enjoy a fine dinner without wine. I used to enjoy a nice glass of wine every once in awhile back in the good ole days. However, the meal would be just as good without it.
:-).
Of course I could. I've enjoyed good meals when I was under 21 with my parents, where it wouldn't really be an option to have alcohol. And I've enjoyed them after I turned 21 where I didn't drink.
Wine is just one component of a good meal, and it isn't even a necessary one. It makes some things better, but not having it doesn't make those things worse.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
