The height size (48px) is equal to line-height size (48px). Try to increase the height size, and you will see the css properties work fine and the text will be positioned on the bottom.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
