I don't know if I can pick one favorite film. Deborah Kerr is one of the greatest movie stars of all time. When I was young Deborah Kerr was in every film that I loved it seemed.

Her beauty was extraordinary. She always played a strong woman with a smoldering sexuality under her good girl exterior. In The King and I you could cut the sexual sparks few between her and Yul Brenner.

They were both so proper but at the same time you knew they couldn't stop thinking about each other. When he spun her around the dance floor in that huge shining dress her face shines as she looks up at him. In one kiss on a beach with the waves washing over them she and Burt Lancaster defined forbidden love and passion that cannot be denied.

Films would never be the same in the way they portrayed passion ever again. In Tea and Sympathy she tackled a dark story of a woman and a boy caught in a sexual uncertainty. She was wonderful as the master's wife offering a little tea and sympathy.

One smaller film she did was Bonjour Tristesse; it's a personal favorite of mine. Over the last almost 30 years she has been seen very rarely on film. I think of her from time to time and still enjoy watching her old movies.

I don't think we have an actress to match her today. They might be beautiful and they might be better at one of the dimensions she was so good at portraying but they aren't the complete package that she was. I will always miss her.

Primerib, I only learned of Deborah Kerr's death when I read your question. How terribly sad. Almost every movie Deborah Kerr acted in was memorable for me Oh, the movies may not have been memorable, but Deborah Kerr was.My favorite film in which Deborah Kerr starred is An Affair to Remember.

Not only is this my favorite Deborah Kerr film, An Affair to Remember is my favorite film of all time. The combination of Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant, what more could one want? Nothing more than the two of them, a wonderful story, witty dialogue, comedy, romance, love, tragedy and a box or two of tissues.

On top of that, a happy ending! I saw this movies years ago, and fell in love with it. I was so happy An Affair to Remember was introduced to a new audience via the subplot in the movie Sleepless in Seattle.

Whenever An Affair to Remember is on TV, invariably either my sister or I will call one another to let the other know the movie is on. The funniest part of this is that we both own DVDs and even VHS copies of this film. Once, my sister and I were watching the movie along with her husband.

He looked at us with a puzzled look upon his face. He couldn’t figure out why we were crying, when there wasn’t anything sad happening in the film. We had to let him know that we were crying, because we knew the next scene was going to be very sad.

He just shook his head in utter confusion. I can recite lines from this movie, practically word for word. Terry: "I was looking up.

It was the nearest thing to Heaven...You were there. " Nickie: "If it had to happen to one of us, why couldn’t it have been me?" Terry: "Oh, darling, don’t cry.

If you can paint, I can walk, anything can happen. " The scene that gets me every time is when Cary Grant/Nickie Ferrante walks into Terry’s bedroom knowing that the painting he painted of Terry wearing his grandmothers shawl will be hanging upon the wall. Hoping against hope that he won’t see it there.

Then when he does see it, realizing that the woman the art gallery owner, whose gallery was showing the painting, had given the painting to was a woman in a wheelchair who saw in the painting exactly what Nickie was trying to convey. The art gallery owner knew that Nickie would never sell the painting to anyone. He told Nickie about the young woman who came into the gallery and loved the painting, Nickie told him to give the painting to the woman.

. . Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant from "An Affair to Remember.

" . . There are other Deborah Kerr movies which I adore.

Of course, The King and I is a close second to An Affair to Remember. The chemistry between Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner is nealy as electric as the chemistry between Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant. One interesting bit of trivia from An Affair to Remember and The King and I is Marnie Nixon sang for Deborah Kerr in both movies.

What made Deborah Kerr memorable for me is that she could play any role, from a nun in Heaven Knows Mr. Allison, the adulturous wife in From Here to Eternity, The football coaches wife in Tea and Sympathy (some memorable scenes with John Kerr. ) Deborah Kerr was a true acting treasure. Thankfully, her films will be viewed forever by generations to come.

Anna Leonowens... ..in the King and I. It’s the only movie I’ve ever seen of hers, I believe, and it’s a wonderful one to remember her by. She played the part beautifully, looked beautiful (that huge dress she wore was amazing!), and sang beautifully.

She was absolutely perfect for the role! I saw the same movie with Jodie Foster, and while it was also good, it just couldn’t match the performance that Deborah Kerr did in the original. I will have to watch From Here to Eternity now to see her in that.

I’m saddened to hear it was Parkinson’s Disease that took her early. There is so much hope in stem cell research to help fight this disease, just not fast enough... 1 "The King and I", hands down. She played an amazing character who didn't take any crap, but still she was a real person. She was scared, she got tired, but she kept on whistling.

:) She imbued the role with humor, grace, charm, and beauty.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
