I had considered it for years because I had seen all those gory PETA videos when I was about ten or eleven, but for whatever reason I just never really stuck to vegetarianism, despite the guilty feeling in the back of my mind every time I ate meat. Then one day I was watching this awful video, it wasn't a slaughterhouse video, I won't go into detail but it was basically the bodies of companion animals (dogs and cats) being put through the same thing I'd seen cows and pigs put through in the slaughterhouse videos. I felt like a hypocrite for eating one animal while pampering another (a lot of people go vegetarian for the same reason, it's the "I wouldn't eat my dog" way of thinking).
So, that day I decided to go vegan, and I did - cold turkey! It's great, I feel I will definitely be vegan for the rest of my life and I'm only seventeen so that's a long time (hopefully, haha). I've been vegan now for about five months, I made the switch sometime in August.
By the way, I respect people like you (people who kill animals for food) MUCH more than people who just go to the supermarket and buy clean little wrapped up cuts of meat. I feel if someone can actually go out and kill something, gut it and butcher it et cetera, they deserve to eat it more than someone who will eat the result but not do the dirty work. That is where meat and animals become two separate things in society and I can't stand it.
Anyway, I'll stop typing now before I get into a rant. :).
My parents chose for me to be a vegetarian and im glad they did. The reason is that when I think about what meat does to your body, it scares me. Becoming a vegetarian ment that the risk for being overweight, heartattacks, stroke, and many diseases were put out of my system.
Im a very slender girl, but I would rather be that way than overweight. I have been a vegetarian all my life and ill tell you, the temptation for meat is tough! I have had meat before but, it didn't really satisfy me.
You don't have to be a vegetarian if your concerned about the animals who were treated cruely in slaughter houses. There are meat products that are organic and treat their animals humainly. If that makes you feel better, try that!
I hope this helps!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
