First of all, it already seems that the insurance companies which will supposedly have more strict government mandates placed upon them already belong to the government, or better yet the government belongs to them through lobbyists' vast contributions to Senate and House members. (About $135,000,000 contributed by health care professionals to Senate in 2009 and 2010 and $539,395,861 were reported to be contributed by lobbyists in 2009) This being said, it cannot be denied that their contributions had no effect on those members of Congress which had the power to pass the bill, so hopefully the health insurance companies will be content with 30,000,000 more customers and that much more income. Like you said though, with the increasing price of the un-addressed health care health insurance will become more and more expensive which will result in higher taxation. It is fairly odd that the 'health care bill' does not deal with actual health care, but only health insurance (the price of which is controlled by the cost of health care.
) So, in short, it seems that there has been a gap left open for the insurance companies to charge what they want for health insurance and blame higher prices on the un-controlled price of health care. It seems to me that the lack of control over the true inhibitor of health insurance prices should have been covered in the bill more extensively than the actual insurance because it is what determines insurance.
The House and Senate made the right decision. If the insurance keeps increasing then tax payers will contribute to this insurance. This health bill really needed to pass because America has been going through this crisis for years.
I personally have been going through it since 1992 and I was very angry when the Clinton's did not get it passed then. However I think the major issue here was getting the bill pass. It has been on the table too long and any more delay of this bill would have been unacceptable.
How can we think about insurance premiums when people are dying because of lack of insurance? Lets take care of the people. Most people will not mind paying some taxes to support a love one.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
