This is actually one of the most intractable problems theists face when they raise whole "first cause" argument, no matter which way they turn they are left with two equally bad options. One: God exists within time, therefore he must have logically had a cause as all things need a cause. Two: God exists outside time or is timeless, this raises more problems than it solves.
If something is outside time or timeless how does it affect things going on inside time? If it exists in a "higher dimension of time" it's still subject to the same rules as things in our "lower" time, that is it must have a beginning and an end and ultimately a cause. Atheists get around this problem by having a perfectly sound third option.
Three: There is no evidence that this "God" thing even exists, therefore searching for something that has no cause is futile!
If God has not always existed, nothing would exist. Something cannot come from absolute nothingness; so something has to have always existed or nothing would exist. Anything that comes into being is an effect that has to have a cause.
The first thing that came into being had to have a cause that existed before anything came into being. The First Cause that has to have always existed is called God.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
