I think the USA has moved away from rubber bullets, and replaced them with Bean bags. I think they have more knockdown power with less damage to the target. The main idea is to put down a riot without seriously hurting anyone.
Those methods are used as a last resort. They are not used at all in peaceful demonstrations.
When the Northern Ireland troubles were at their peak in the 1970's & 1980's it was common knowledge that British troops used rubber bullets to disperse rioting people or large gatherings, not sure if they ever used gas canisters. Northern Ireland is a province within Great Britain but republican organizations such as the IRA objected to the province being governed by the British government & wanted to be part of the Republic of Ireland.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
