Do gender-spectrum individuals identify with the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) community?

Some may and some may not. Gender-spectrum individuals may not want their gender identity to be confused with a non-straight sexual orientation, and do not want to be misunderstood by other LGB individuals. Although some gender-spectrum individuals identify as queer, others do not.

Some LGBT organizations may actually be insensitive toward or exclude transgender and other gender-spectrum people. Also, those who can be categorized as transgender may not have a transgender identity, but simply a man or woman identity. A transgender or other gender-spectrum person’s life experiences or relevant issues may be very different from other LGB people, even if the gender-spectrum person also identifies as non-straight.
