My employer claims they can offer me modified work, but this is only to train someone else to do my job, which I can no longer perform. If I choose to take up their offer, I loose my disability benefits for every dollar earned. This would also exacerbate my work injuries and the progress of my recovery.
I am asked to submit my resignation if I choose not to take up their work offer. They will not terminate my position, or take any action in that direction. What is the best way to proceed in my position?

Do not make a decision........... until you consult a labor lawyer and let the lawyer do all the communication. Think of yourself first! It was work accident and if you are now limited you should be on disability until well enough to return to work.
If you resign you will not be able to collect unemployment when and if disability expires. Do not allow the employer to put you between a rock and a hard place. Get legal help.
You might be surprised that you are entitled to much more than you are getting. I would not resign and I would say that I will train someone when I am ready to return to a modified work at the same salary. Not before............. Good luck..
The job market is very tight right now, and the fact that you might have limited capabilities in functioning is going to make finding a job even harder. And if you resign, you are not entitled to any unemployment benefits. I think the first thing you need to do is get detailed documentation from your doctor that proves without a shadow of a doubt that what your employer is asking you to do is going to worsen your injury.
Without it, you don't have a leg to stand on, no matter what you decide to do.
If it is permanent, and your employer cannot make a suitable job available, then you should consult your doctor as to the appropriate steps to transition out of their employment without hurting yourself. If it is temporary, then you will want to take a medical leave of absence until you are recovered.
3 You should contact the Worker's Compensation department of your state government. If you were injured on the job you have rights under both Federal and State law. It sounds as if your employer is trying to just get rid of you to avoid the company's responsibilities in the case.
Depending upon your injury, you could be eligible for benefits until you are trained for another job, or even for life long benefits if you have been permanently disabled.

4 Hermes has a very good point: it was an on-the-job injury.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
