Do I swim wrong.? SWIMMERS.! or someone who knows about swimming. (:?

Your breathing pattern is fine. Breathing every stroke cycle (one left and one right = one stroke cycle) is normal. However, you kept saying that you "lift your head" for your breath.

If you are actually lifting your face out of the water, THAT is really wrecking your swimming When you swim and your face is in the water, your chin should almost be touching your chest. That will cause your body to flatten out on the top of the water. When you put your right hand in the water, you should also roll your right hip down toward the bottom of the pool.

Of course, left hand means left hip. When you roll, your head should stay perfectly still ... hips roll, head does not When you breathe, keep your chin nearly touching your chest and roll your head with your hips but, not as much. I tell my swimmers to "sneak their breath" and that only one eye and the corner of their mouth should be seen. So, in other words, their head is turning as little as possible Make certain to keep your strokes real long, too.

It sounds like when you're swimming you lift your head up out of the water to breathe. If this is what you do, it is adding tons of resistance and is a bad habit to get into. The proper way to breathe is to rotate your head to the side and get a breath through your mouth. It's called rotary breathing.

As for how often you breath, it is a personal preference. Basically whatever is comfortable for you.It is easier if you aren't trying to breath every stroke. Try to breath every other stroke or every 3 strokes if you want.

3 strokes is the "ideal" breathing pattern but every 2 works fine. It'll feel really weird at first.

No you don;t have to change the way you swim, only the way you breathe, because to other people it may look weird, and it adds a lot of resistance, slowing you down, tiring you faster. I start off with a breath every 3 strokes, then as I start to get tired I get a breath every 2 strokes. I have never tried a breath for each stroke.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
