OH now, really........ Good Morning AgentOrange, YES WE DO LIVE IN A COMPLETE TOXIC SOCIETY THAT IS ALL DESIGNED TO KILL US OFF AS RAPIDLY AS POSSIBLE. Why? So that there will be enough food to feed all of us that are left.

Our air is poisoned, our water - fruit - veggies - soil - animals - just EVERYTHING. If You go looking in any food store and slowly pick up various food items - You will notice that almost everything is artificially prepared out of chemicals. Most foods are laced with Canola Oil and or Corn Syrup which are BOTH HIGHLY TOXIC to the human body causing all sorts of health problems. So called 'Organic' foods are not much better, but A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE.

And of course, there are prescription drugs. Each one is Add to it, more drugs of different kinds, and the entire effect is Heightened. What does all of this toxicity add up to?

Your Death, and as many others too as Quickly as possible. "We the People" NO LONGER MATTER in the least. There was a sad time in our civilization when scientists experimented on animals in labs.

Then along came "We the People" who screamed "INHUMANE! " So now the scientists use us - "WE the People" to test their poisonous drugs on through such TV ads as "Is this Drug Right for You?" And by the droves - 'You the People' rush to Your favorite doctors and 'Ask' - "Doctor - Doctor IS this Drug Right for me?

The doctor generally doesn't know, but he's going to make a BIG BUCK legally pushing the newest pharmaceutical drug he was just given but the latest CUTE sexy female drug salesperson. Then he says: "Call me IF You have any unusual reactions." It's certain that he has NO idea how You're going to react.

This is why he takes notes on Your reactions, then later sends his notes to some drug company. Those results of his, along with a few other doctors notes become "The Latest Blind drug study". All accomplished through Your pain and suffering just to MAKE A BUCK.

SO YES - WE LIVE IN A TOXIC SOCIETY and it's getting WORSE. Very soon now - all TV goes Digital. This means that those in control will be able to CONTROLL all of 'You the People' all at one time.

Before their control wasn't total because some individuals had an analog receiving system, but soon now every thing will be the SAME. IT'S REALLY CALLED -- TOTAL CONTROLL OF THE POPULAS (ALL) AT THE SAME TIME. I wish You ALL a Good Life.

Have a Nice Day.

Humans are selfish and usually make selfish choices, sometimes even evil choices. Thus, any group will display the characteristics of the members of that group. If humans are selfish, then society will also be selfish.

What passes for "news" will be what members of that society choose: that which might warn them and thus protect their selfish lives. Perhaps more telling is how poorly any good news "sells. " .

1 I wouldn't say we live in a toxic society, but our news media would like us to think that we do. The news has become more about entertainment and market share than information. All the news corporations just want to make money, and they do that by getting the most viewers so they can sell their advertising for the highest prices.

They've found that people want to be shocked and awed by the news, they want to have their prejudices confirmed and their fears justified. So the news, which has become more of a business than a source of information, gives the public what they want. This user has been banned from Askville.

2 I agree with MightyCow. It's too bad that a "Good News Network" wouldn't make money, but we'd have them if the idea would work . .. Does thsi mean that we live in a toxic society?Perhaps.

But perhaps it means that our lives are generally so good that good is normal, while bad is news--? .

PamPerdue replied to post #1: 3 > I wouldn't say we live in a toxic society, but our news media would like us to think that we do. I don't separate "the media" from ourselves. _We_ want to believe we live in a toxic society.

We all like to believe that nobody has ever had to deal with what we're dealing with. The cold is always colder, the heat always hotter, the drought always droughtier. We have panicky conversations about terrorist attacks while chewing on cholesterol-burgers and sucking down diabetes-inducing sodas that are far, far more likely to kill us.

We deliberately choose news media that tell us what we want to hear. We want to hear that our enemies are bad, horrible people (including our political enemies in our own country). People have turned off the local "if it bleeds, it leads" news because there's far more bleeding on CNN or Fox News, who can go further afield for it.

I think that Fox News and MSNBC aren't creating differences in people; they're exploiting them, because we enjoy it. I think that even blaming "the media" is a side effect of that: the media are perfectly happy to present themselves as the enemy. (The outlet usually exempts itself, but every news outlet is happy to carry stories about the other guys are using the media to advance their narrow agenda.)I don't think people have changed much, and I don't think that society is radically worse than it was.

It's better in some ways and worse in others. I highly recommend that people turn off their TVs. The national news is less important that we think it is.

The things that are "coming to get you" aren't coming to get you. If you want to have an effect on your life, go to your school board meetings and city council meetings, or at least read those bits buried deep in the local paper that talk about them.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
