Do you agree with the "no-electronics-on-planes" rule proposed after the Detroit terrorist incident?

There are too many variables. They can't ban everything that people chooose to do bad with. There is no way they can cover all the options.

Terrorists seem to be clever about their ideas. I think it would be too much with these changes.

It will not change anything. You cannot ban everything on a plane because what ever is left can be used to hurt others. Those terrorists will find other ways to be in control, if you take away everything that could possibly hurt others they will find something else.

A terrorist could even use a shoe (as one clown tossed it at the president) to cause trouble. Trust me a shoe or boot with steel toes could cause havoc when thrown. Imagine a bunch of terrorists with steel toed shoes taking over a plane, it could be done.

They could subdue the flight staff far fetched perhaps but with enough of those bad dudes shoes, fists and even shoe strings could create havoc and those items are all innocent.

Public air travel has truly reached a new low. I don't care how many 80 hour weeks I have to put in or how many vacations I have to skip -- chartering a private jet is getting more attractive by the day. There goes my responsible carbon footprint.

It is nothing but a feel-good measure that does nothing to improve security. If electronics are banned, terrorists will use other tools to carry out their acts.

Sadly, I believe it is a reactive and superficial action masqueraded to seem proactive. It eventually comes down to the flying market determining how far they are willing to accept an inconvenience just to have a perceived sense of security. In spite of all the measures currently in place the perpetrator of the Christmas day incident was still able to board and nearly execute his heinous act on an US bound flight.

Will a ban on on board electronics deter future acts? Only in as much as having them manifest themselves in another form.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
