Not knowing how you define or recognize, " art", but based on how I do........
It is an expression of how the artist views the subject. The same latiude is granted to writers.........( there are many catagories), cooks......( again, many specialities), teachers ( many platforms).........
Just because, I fail to receive the message or intent ( fail to 'get it' ) does not lessen its value or mean that it is without merit.
Artwork is an expression........expression and view can not be a "lie", perhaps, misguided, outside the normal, or twisted, but not a " lie". It certainly can not make me "see", what I do not see.
Well, It depends. Being an Art student and a expecting to make it the main source of income, and being an Art student, because you really love it, are totally different.
It may be true that in a highly competitive world where nothing comes for free, you ought to move with the rest for the survival. But if survival is not the only thing you expect life to be, its worth you learn something to quench our natural thirst for expressing our emotions uniquely. For that Art would be a nice subject.
I believe being proficient in a subject like engineering, medicine, any thing that has a high demand, and being in touch with a little bit of Art is a nice way to become a smart human being in the present world.
Totally agree with you; well said couldn't explain it better and simpler.
Art is not a lie, but rather the artists understanding of life. It might be an opinion, a concept, a jest, or an epipheny. It is an unbounded way for one to express, without fear of prejudice. An outpouring of energy and emotion without thought to rebuttal or consequence.
Philosophy is truth; art is honesty.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
