4. Other. It proved that the current roster isn't capable of generating a million buyrate, even at the biggest wrestling show of the year in any promotion.
That can be blamed on the talents (or lack of) of the performers, the over-exposure of the main eventers, the "me, too" repetitive nature of the match-ups, and the writers not producing compelling storylines and angles that make fans WANT to pay $55 ($65 for HD) for the "granddaddy of them all". Vince had to import stars from the past who used to generate that million PPV buyrate to get that magic number this year. Most people who bought WM27 on PPV did so to see The Rock and Stone Cold.
And Trish. The usual lot bought the show for the Streak match. That's what sold the show so well this year: The Rock, Stone Cold, Trish, and the Streak match.
Had there been no Streak match or no The Rock, it wouldn't have gotten that million buyrate. They need to do something. Taker can't carry Wrestlemania forever.
They do their TV shows around soap opera storylines with skits and promos but PPVs are where the "money matches" are supposed to happen. The WWE has been dropping the ball with their PPVs for at least a year and a half because the matches fail to live up to the hype created by those soap opera storylines, skits, and promos, and people aren't so eager to buy the next PPV. Vince is a very smart businessman; you'd think he would know this.
The further he distances the WWE from pro wrestling the worse his PPVs do. He had to import three of the WWE's biggest stars from a generation ago to make this year's WM a financial success. Vince needs to do some "spring cleaning" in his "writing" staff and bring in some people who know how to write wrestling storylines instead of those Hollywood screenwriter wannabes he's got now.
He's got the talent in the roster. It's the direction that talent is receiving that's the problem.
First off, WrestleMania X-Seven had over 1,000,000 buyrates. I'm not sure about WrestleMania XIX, but I'm pretty sure it did also. This question is extremely biased.
Why would I bother choosing those options when not one of them are true? WrestleMania XXVII was a very good show IMO. Obviously not the same opinion as yours.
WrestleMania XXVII having 1 Million Buyrates proved that the WWE isn't in any sort of downfall. It proved that if WWE puts all the effort towards one show, they can succeed. They pulled off a great show and really delivered in not only show quality but mainstream exposure etc. I'm happy for Vince.
He reached his goal.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
