I'm not psychic and I am one of the few who do not accept that the ancient Mayans have predicted the end of the world. But the world certainly has a chance of easily ending. Nobody cares of course, because they all think that when it ends, we will all go to a magical kindgom in heaven.
I think they are wrong--oh well. We are adrift in a violent universe on a very fragile ecosystem. A relatively small comet could wreak havok on us, as could a solar flare, or a gamma ray burst.
Wandering black holes, supernovae, and meteors are out there. We have super volcanoes that are overdue for explosion and climate change (that some in the US won't even ackowledge) that is making summers hotter and winters colder. Nevermind that our economies are nearing collapse, that we are completely dependent on technology, or that we are overpopulating the earth.
Nevermind that the US is so covered with nuclear power plants that, if left unattended, will all explode, kill everything, and turn the continent into a nuclear wasteland. I haven't even mentioned nuclear weapons and the real prospect of war we have.So 2012 is as good as any other year for it.
The odds are no higher of the end coming in December, 2012 than at any other arbitrary date. So in other words, the odds are infintesimally small. Even if we humans were somehow wiped out, the earth would live on.
The fact that people take this stuff seriously tells me a few things. First, there are a lot of people out there who want the world to end. Second, people have an overinflated sense of the importance of humans in the big scheme of things.
And finally, people have the capacity to believe just about anything. Here are some more thoughts.
Unless, someone drop atomic bomb, nothing can destroy earth so easy and fast.
There have been numerous 'predicted' ends to our world but still, here we are. Our world sure is sturdy.
No way. I don't believe in that, those scientists predicted the end so many times did they like it or something to fill a person's heart with fear when it's so not true.
All they do is get money from those who are frightened with that. What will end in 2012 is the Mayan Calendar not many people know about because the Mayans died out.
But in 2012 please, I don't believe in that, God didn't make a specific date to that to happen, maybe he did, but no one knows it.
Why don't we wait and see. You got a whole year to go though the plenty of other similar questions and hubs. Take a look at the links below.
Just a few from the first page of questions you have a year to browse them all - I wish you success.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
