There are plenty of examples of sex offenders who have been "rehabilitated" and reintroduced into society, just to go and hurt or kill someone else. I think they are good at deceiving people and can easily deceive a parole board. So, no, I don't think they can be rehabilitated.
Perhaps they might be more cognizant of the reasons for doing the act and perhaps try to change their behavior but I don't really think that they can be rehabilitated. I suppose one problem too is that some sex offenders are people whose crime may not have been a crime. For example, the one boy who sent naked pictures of his ex-girlfriend to her family and friends.
He did this to embarrass her and to get back at her for some reason. He is now a registered sex offender for distributing child pornography. She was underaged, yes, but I think this is an extreme interpretation of the law.
Also, there are some people labeled as sex offenders for having consensual sex with girlfriends who have been underaged. Granted that there may not be many of these around - I'm thinking of 18 year old and 16 year old and not necessarily an 18 year old and a 13 year old. These people really do not have to be rehabilitated as they really aren't sexual deviants, only caught in unfortunate circumstances or interpretations of the law.
No, I don't. I don't believe human rehabilitation can change anyone. Only God can change people in the way they need to change to get over being sex offenders, is what I believe.
From what I understand (I studied criminal justice in school with a focus on forensic psychology), you can never eliminate a sex offender's desire for a certain person or act. A pedophile will always be attracted to children. What they can change, however, is their behavior.
A pedophile can come to understand that his actions are harmful to children, and that he needs to never do them again. He can then keep himself away from temptation, and stop offending. Personally, I would call that "rehabilitated," so far as society is concerned.
We cannot, and should not, criminalize anyone's thoughts. If they can change their behavior, we should accept that, and be happy with that. I have actually heard several pedophiles talking about their crimes, and they do not say "I'm cured; I'm not a pedophile."
They say "I did a horrible thing, and I will never allow myself to that again. " I know those men are still sexually attracted to children, but they are also not offending. That is probably as good as we're ever going to get.
Depends on circumstance and the person. I do believe that people put to much stock in "god" and genetics, regardless of personal belief human beings have free will, we have a choice. Any human can choose not to do something.
I'm not sure rehabilitation works as it's a forced program. The same way a drug addict must decide not to be addicted to drugs, a sexual offender must want to not continue their immoral behavior. If they don't want to stop, they won't just because the law or rehabilitation told them not to.So imo yes, a sex offender can cease to offend, however not necessarily as a result of rehabilitation alone.
No you cannot change someones sexual orientation. So the only other thing to do is abtinence and I don't think this works. How many gay people would have changed if possible as years ago it was not accepted or just to keep the family happy.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
