Do you compress your images before uploading them to your Hub?

Images come in png,jpg or jpeg,bmp,tiff and gif and a few others which are native to certain software(like photoshop or paint. Net). One of the lightest images are gifs and of course there is going to be a compromise in quality when you do this.

However fast page load is a good reason to save images in gif format especially if your hub has a great deal of them as the server has to load them all. Am I qualified to talk like this? Actually I do web development in Australia and I have image heavy sites - for example gotweed.com.au I have also done a hub for coders on a javascript image preload trick for image heavy pages.

Compressing images, while maintaining acceptable visual clarity can have a very positive effect on the page load times of your hub pages.

Google ( and other search engines ) also seem to love web pages that load quickly.

While images are not the only thing on a webpage that you need to be concerned about, ( CSS files and Javascript files have to be processed as well ) they do play quite a major role in page load speed time.

I know it's encouraged to place images into hubs and I always do, I tend to display my images at 50% size when inserting into a hub, was concerned that too many full size images might have an affect on page speed. Does Hubpages compress images when they are uploaded do you know? Is it something to be concerned about at all, I am just curious to know.

They are not too strict with size on Hub as some other sights. Also when you start a sub the main picture can be sized differently. Open your photo and on the far right side of the box you will see a width box.

This will make the pic 25 or 50% if you prefer to make it smaller than the original. I do not notice any effect on the page load speed yet. So far so good.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
