Well, we can ask but we can't demand and if they reject then we can't make a fuss. There's no harm in trying to ask for discount from anyone. Doctors are a bit different than plumbers or electricians in a sense that they are working at human service industry and their first priority should be to help.

They are required to take ppocrates oath before they serve as doctors and part of the oath is they " will remember that they remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm. " so, they do have obligations to help human beings as they are, not because they pay you more. I don't begrudge doctors because they make money, but they should try to help regardless of the money too.

I agree with you bklynj this healthcare is pretty kicking the middle-classes asses. I mean the rich don't worry about paying for damn taxes and the poor practically get it for free so now they have the option to stay poor and the middle-class workers are holding everyone up and working to make their decent living paying for everyone else. And on top of it we can't even pick our own doctor or have private inssurance. So middle-class is just getting wailed and I don't think anything, as big as healthcare, should be passed if a whole society of people are getting screwed.

No, but it would be nice if my doctor would let me do that. But if you think about it, if you have health insurance, you are getting treated at a discounted rate. I think everyone believes that doctors should be paid well; however, there is nothing in the ppocratic oath about payment.

Some doctors will arrange to see you for a discount or work in a free clinic out of the goodness of their hearts. I appreciate them because they could have easily gone the most profitable route, but they have chosen healing more over making more money.

It's called subsidization. Those who can pay subsidize those who can't. And no, I don't expect them to do that, but I do expect them to charge reasonable rates so that anyone can afford them.

If I can't afford my plumber or electrician, I can either fix it myself, or get a handyman to do it. If I can't afford my doctor, I could die. They have your life in their hands, and they take an oath to do no harm.

How can denying someone care because they have no insurance, and can't afford you, or denying you care because an insurance company won't pay for the procedure be doing no harm? I'll tell you right now, if everyone had affordable medical care, and no one went without what they needed, I would not care if doctors got rich, but the way it is isn't right, and you know it. I don't think there are any poverty stricken doctors in Canada or Britain.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
