Do you find it more acceptable for a man to date a younger woman than a woman to date a younger man?

I have often wondered this as well. Again it belongs to the famous double standards that we love and perpetuate so much. There is no name for a man that dates younger women because this is seen as normal.

However, there is a name for women that date younger men, and that is "cougar. " I have yet to figure out if this is compliment or insult. The fact that there has to be a label or name means that it's something that needs one rather than the reverse which doesn't apparently.

I suspect it boils down to the fact that we live in a patriarchal society. In such, men have made the rules for a very long time. These rules have become "normal" in many ways and working outside the norm means first rejection and fear, then slow acceptance.

And one rule is that it's okay for older men to seek younger women but it is seen as some sort of anomoly when older women seek out younger men. It may also have to do with women's child bearing years being shorter than that of men. Men can help produce children until the day they drop dead.

Women have a much shorter time period (although longer now that it has been traditionally in the past). So, I suspect that somewhere in women's history is this need to be with an older, more established male to produce and care for the children. I suspect it is some combination of these ideas and probably some that I haven't though of (mental maturity, stereotypes, other cultural factors) that lead us to suspect men that date older women but not women who date older men.To actually answer your question, I think more women should date younger men and balance the inequity that has been going on for so long.

I personally find "age" a bad criteria to base a negative judgement on. Love has no age in my opinion, but only if we're talking about proper love (or what those people might perceive as love). If I look at it objectively, it's more acceptable for an older man to date a younger woman as an older man gives a sense of "protection", which is saught after in women, opposed to a younger woman, who "needs to be protected".

In most cases, either one seems more appealing to the other because that's how nature works (higher thinking asside). But as we all hopefully know, humans are capable of higher thinking, which may leave primal instincts asside; including the vulnerability of a younger woman or the experience and protection of an older male. Relationships aren't formed on instincts so much anymore, but rather on connections.So it's perfectly acceptable to me for either situation to occur.

If you're looking for a general opinion, there's a "rule" out there for acceptable relationship ages (which I find ridiculous personally). For men: Half your age + 5 For women: Half your age + 10 Anything in that range should be considered ok.(Depending on the country you live in e.g. , an 18 year old dating a 14 year old might not be considered acceptable in every country. ).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
