I give it out freely to anyone I think needs it, as well as to people who ask for it in person. I usually decide who to give it to and not give it to based on whether or not I'd be happy if they called. I have never regretted giving my number to any individual person (companies don't count), so I haven't yet had a reason to be secretive about it.
We don't give our cell number out to anyone. We don't want to have to check the voice mail on it. It is disconnected right now, but when my husband works security jobs, he is required to have a cell to dial the police on.
He only wants work or me to call him on it. I used to have a cell phone for a job I used to have. I only had it on during work hours.
You would be amazed how many people would leave me voice mail on the weekend and be pissed off that I didn't return the calls until Monday morning! Get real people! Just because cell technology makes it possible to be in touch 24/7 doesn't mean that we should all work 24/7.
My cell phone is my only phone, so if I need to put a number down, it has to be that one. I don't like getting calls from solicitors (I have donated to some charities, and they ask for a phone number, of course--should have said I didn't have one! ), but I really don't want to have personal calls at work, because that's really unprofessional.
If I don't recognize the number, or a name doesn't pop up, then I let it go to voicemail. It's not a big deal to occasionally delete a junk voicemail, and its pretty easy to decide when to answer the phone or not. Surprisingly, I have found that solicitors are less likely to call a cell phone than a home phone. My parents' home phone is virtually un-answerable due to the volume of spam calls, but I've had this number for quite a few years, and get very few unwanted calls.
I keep my cell phone number very private. The only people who have it are my children and a few close friends. My husband's cell is his business number and he has calls constantly from telemarketers.
I already have numerous phone calls from telemarketers on my home phone I do not want it started on my cell. Not to mention all those useless chain letter type text messages that people will bug you with! I hate those!
I like to keep some control on how freely I circulate my cell number. I try to keep it within work and close family and friend circles. I do not go to extremes to keep it private, but I do avoid it if I do not deem it necessary.
I only give my cell phone number out to family and close friends and the kids school for emergencies. I do not give it out freely. It is a thing of privacy, I am upset enough that now I have spam calling and texting my cell.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
