Do you have floating cork flooring in your home and what is your experience with it? Pros and cons?

Cork floors purchased from iFloor. Com Yes, we have floating cork floors in the lower level of our home. If I had it to do over I'd certainly choose cork flooring again. It's just beautiful, comfortable flooring.

I talked about this topic in response to a question someone else posted a little over a month ago. So I'm going to go ahead and copy/paste my earlier remarks here:"Cork is indeed a beautiful product. And it's so remarkable to stand on.

So 'warm' (which is to say not at all cold like other laminates or tiles) and comfortable. And it's really no more difficult to install than any other floating floor. Definitely doable with a little patient DIY determination.

(We installed them ourselves)I cannot speak to it's 'longevity' personally because our floors are relatively new too. The reports we got from friends and acquaintances were overwhelmingly positive however. The only complaint we heard was that cork will fade over time in direct sunlight.

But everyone loved their floors so much - they didn't really seem to care. (We figured...even with fade...it could never look half as bad as some of the rugs look after a few short years of abuse from our children.)With the product I have, I would definitely have qualms about animal claws or anything that might take a sharp dig into the floor. And I think your concerns about moisture are realistic too.

I wouldn't let anything liquid have a chance to soak into the seams on these floors. That said I don't think these 'risks' are unique to the cork floors. One doesn't want liquids seeping into the joints of a laminate floor either.

I've seen the sort of bubbling and buckling that can cause. And some of those floors can fare better or worse for scratching too. (We've managed to take a chunk out of the finish on the laminate in our kitchen.

)So overall I think cork is a really reasonable choice. And while the risks may be similar cork has some great traits to which other products just cannot compare. It should be a generally quite resilient and simple product to care for.

For best results in the long run choose a reputable product.(We were told to give bias to European products over Chinese made). And go for the best you think you can afford. We found it difficult to compare...but if you're persistent you can find the information you're looking for on the warranties, thicknesses, number of coats of finish, etc. For added protection you might also want to consider the merit of installing your floor and then sealing the floor with a quality water base urethane."See also:askville.amazon.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
