Long time friends Oh, yes, I still keep in touch with a few of my high school friends. Which for me is even more than 20 years....but we won't get into specifics! I recently tried to contact via email an early childhood friend who has since moved to Canada, with no results.
I would love to see how she's changed over the years! My best friend from high school and college is out of state, but we talk by phone and email occasionally. A friend that I went to elementary school with, maybe all the way back to kindergarten and who I haven't seen since graduation, ending up moving to the same down I live in (not the town we both grew up in) and her daughter became good friends with my daughter!
That was weird! Well, now that I think about it from another perspective, I have been married for 25 years, so I guess I have a very close friend that I've known that long that I see daily! How does 62 years sound I have had a friend for 62 years. We met in girl scouts when we were 10 - so that tells you how old we are now. As children, we both had very definite ideas and argued or had spats very frequently and argued all of the time.
I would storm home and tell my mom that I wans never speaking to her again and within two hours we would either be on the phone or at each others houses ----- and after all these years and her living on the west coast and me in the midwest we can still talk on the phone for hours at a time and try to see each other at least every couple of years ---getting harder to to, 'cuz we are getting downright old, but I don't know what I ever would have done without her. Even though she is out in lala land, she helped walk me through my husbands death and I have helped her at times ---that is what friends are for .
Yes, I am fortunate enough to have several like that. I have one friend from high school that I stay in touch with. I have three friends from college that I still talk and write to.
However, the friends I have made at work since I have been an adult are my best friends. I have had two for twenty years, an numerous friends for 10 years. I guess that is the good thing about staying at the same job for awhile.
You see people at work more than you see your family. So it helps to like them. Several, not many I have a half-dozen friends going all the way back to high school, over 20 years ago at this point. At the time I tended not to make friends easily, but made very good friendships. I’m in touch with all of my close friends from high school and college, perhaps half a dozen or so.
Since then I’ve gotten better at having friends who weren’t intimate friends, but I’ve added a few more friendships that have lasted longer than a decade. Not all of them are intimate, but the experience led me to make friends and keep them.
Thanks for asking this! I hadn't thought about it. But I've had one friend for 22 years, another for 17, another for 11 and one just hovering at 10.
Wow! Those are my closest friends. I have other friends I've known for over a decade, too.
But they're more casual. I should note that I grew up in small towns and I suspect that makes a difference as all these people I'm still friends with are also from small towns. Interesting question!.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
