Do you know of a good valued hotel (or B & B) in downtown Anchorage, Alaska?

I want to stay in downtown Anchorage for three days after an Alaskan cruise this August and wasn't planning to rent a car. I would like to keep the cost down below $150 a night and not stay at a budget motel. Any thoughts?

Take a look at these 2-star places... I always like going to Frommer's, listing all of the hotels by quality, and then looking for the less expensive options for each given level of quality. frommers.com/destinations/indexaccom.cfm... It turns out the street side is really the back of the house, which sits at the top of a high bluff facing an unobstructed view of Cook Inlet and Mount Susitna beyond, a view so unlike most urban vistas it is easy to forget you are right in town. A large, gracious common room and breakfast area and an adjoining balcony command this extraordinary view, and its enough to make you stop right there and just spend time looking.

Most of the whole house was recently remodeled and filled with new furniture (some bathrooms remain 1960s style). The suite is quite luxurious, but the four rooms that share two bathrooms are the rarer find: cozy and very clean, sharing this prime location, they allow travelers to save significant money without compromise. A good, simple room with two double beds and its own bathroom rents for $120 double, a real bargain.

Oscar Gill was an early civic leader.

The house was to be torn down in 1982 but was moved to storage by a historic preservation group; Mark and Susan Lutz saved it in 1994, transferring it to its present location and, with their own labor, restoring it authentically as a cozy bed-and-breakfast. Now it's on the National Appropriate antiques sit on plank floors in rooms sized in those more modest times. With the period decoration it's like visiting your grandmother's house when it was brand new.

The Lutzes are the kind of hosts who enjoy their guests. Book early, as they fill; you can check availability and even select a room on their website. Facilities: Bike loan; babysitting Sources: frommers.com/destinations/indexaccom.cfm... .

Alaskan Sojourn I've done a little research and have come up with 3 choices. 1. America's Best Inn & Suites-Anchorage Eagle's Nest ($147.00).2.

Lake View B & B ($145.00) and 3. Voyager Hotel ($189.00. Numbers 1 and 3 are located near the R.R.Station and airport.(If you are taking the train to Denali National Park, you'll want a short taxi ride to the train station) I obtained this info from the following website: www.hotels.com/.If you want to go there, you can get more detailed info and do a little more research.

The website allows you to narrow down your search by price, landmarks, ratings and names. I would choose one with at least a 3 star rating by both the website and customer reviews. My choice would be number one.Mush.... Sources: World Travelor Google Map View Larger Map .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
