He seems light-minded mainly because his originality and independence confuse other people. Drugs/alcohol aside, his speech becomes unintelligible when he has to interact with people he doesn't like. This is actually evidence he prefers to be peaceful and non-confrontational.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
