Do you need a converter to hook up an HDMI cable from an Xbox 360 elite to an HDTV with an HDMI port?

I have an Olevia 232T, which has an HDMI port (plug and play according to the website) but when I hook the HDMI cord up that came with my Xbox, and the one that came with the TV, I get an "Invalid Signal" message. Sounds like a bad cable or connection. The HDMI connection should work with nothing else needed. More than likely, it's one of the following: 1.

Bad cable. If you have another one, try using it. 2.

Bad port on the 360. Try it with another TV, if you can. 3.

Bad port on the TV. Try one of the others, if it has others. 4.

Perhaps you're on the wrong input? The only other possible explanation, which I haven't seen reported online, is a lack of syncing between that Olevia model and the 360. HDMI is a finicky protocol, and it does have some issues.

Sometimes they can be fixed by simply unplugging the TV and plugging it back in. Far more rarely, two HDMI components simply will not work together. I hope that helps..

No converter required. You might be trying to feed your TV a resolution it can't use, specifically 1080p.
