See thoughts below...There is give and take here. The Prius and other hybrids are fun. For one thing, the initial acceleration from the electric-powered motor is great, like a sports car, not an 'economy' car.In addition, the cars often come with GPS, dashboard phone, all those kind of goodies.

It's a neat toy, like an IPhone. On the other hand, hybrids are expensive. Compared with other economy cars (like the Corolla, Camry, or Yaris) a Prius gets better mileage, but that alone isn't going to pay for the significant price difference unless gasoline rises to at least $6-7 a gallon.

One of the advantages of a Prius is that you have a 'cool factor' of a more expensive car (such as a Lexus) but the great mileage. Overall, I think of them as 'small luxury cars', or 'image cars' not 'money saving cars'. The deal breaker for me not buying one is the price, and the space (we need room for cargo, and the trunk space wasn't much!

) Sources: My opinion - investigated, didn't buy, I know 3 other owners of hybrids.

I bought one in February 2007. My daily commute is mostly highway miles, about 30 miles each way. My real-world average is running about 50 MPG, which is pretty close to the EPA estimate of 51 MPG.Do I enjoy the car?

I do enjoy the car, with a couple of caveats: 1. It sucks in high wind.It can be pretty nerve-wracking driving in high winds; the car gets blown around pretty easily. There're aftermarket stiffening rods that allegedly reduce this issue, according to users of PriusChat.com.

2. The sound system in the base model (I got option package #2; no upgraded sound system) is kind of weak. If you like your music, you might want a better option package.

3. I'm slightly angsty about how it perform in the snowy, icy winters, but by all accounts the newer models are quite the winter trooper. 4.

The passenger cabin is huge but the trunk/hatch space isn't. Otherwise, the ride is nice, the creature comforts are nice, and the car is overall pretty nice.

By georg from Austin, TX (7/05/07)Pros: Very roomy on the inside, back up cam, climate control, MPG! Cons: Seats aren't that comfortable, needs power seats, not 60 MPG.

Got the silver prius, looked awesome once we had it tinted. Will probably get a bazooka considering the audio quality is not that good. This has been getting bad reviews about the claimed 60 mpg but I never once thought I would get that but we drive all the time from Austin to San Antonio and avg from 48-53 mpg on the highway and the sticker on the car had 55 hwy so I'm good with that.

We got this on a Toyota discount so it was only 22,500. We had a honda civic 06 before and we're more than happy with the extra room and added miles per gallon.1 out of 6 people found this review helpful Was this review helpful to you? Have car 2 months, Package 4 with Nav (07). Some owners comments amaze me. "Toyota lies about milage" No so.

Can probably get 60 under structured ideal driving conditions - but what's wrong with 48 to 53? Every new car has a depending on driving habits. With 4 folks, on interstates with air on, never got less than 48."Not a BMW"No kidding.

"Ugly" Why did you buy it? The first Beetle wasn't pretty."Expensive to repair" Most things are under waranty for a long time. BUT - overall all Toyotas are very expensive to repair if YOU need to pay out of pocket.

Dealer shops try hard to sell you service that is not needed. Just get tires rotated and have oil and filters changed. Don't go for the Check this and that service packages.

It's pure profit for the dealer - (but you do get free coffee.)The Nav system is very unfriendly and awkward. The 9 speaker radio has substandard tonal quality. A real joke is the "PRE WIRED SAT RADIO" That will set you back about 700 bucks for the Toyota module and installation.

Front end bra is a MUST. Design subseptible to pings from stones. Could use power driver seat - not enough adjustments, but good comfort and support overall.

HVAC is outstanding. Accelleration actuallly better than expected. Brakes excellent.

Actually, an excellent car, do not regret purchase.1 out of 12 people found this review helpful Was this review helpful to you? I traded in my Volvo and find it much, much more comfortable than the Volvo and the Acura before it. Also, there's more leg room in back for passengers.1 out of 11 people found this review helpful Was this review helpful to you? I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
