Do you remember when people decorated Christmas trees with strands of silver icicles and angel hair?

Yes I do and my mother always had us put it on one strand at a time. Angel hair came later We have pictures of the huge tree just dripping with it and every inch was covered.

Yes. When we still used real trees, I liked for ours to be heavily laden with tinsel icicles. I liked the angel hair on some of my friends' trees, but we never used it on ours.

Now, we have an artificial tree with no tinsel. We use lots of tiny white lights and lots of ornaments we've collected over many years. It's very pretty, and I like not having a tree die just to sit in our living room dropping needles all over the floor.

My yes. Whatever happened to angel hair and the silver icicles? My son bought an absolutely beautiful real live tree but we havent started to decorate it yet.

I hope someone still sells the good things to decorate with. Thanks for jogging my memory. It needs a lot of jogging.

That was my job when I was a child. I loved to drape the silver icicles on the tree. At that time we had a real tree.

Any leftover icicles got pitched out with the tree. When we got an artificial tree, we used garland. I wonder if they still make silver icicles.

My parents never decorated with angel hair, but we always had tinsel. I still put tinsel on my tree. It seems to finish it.

When the lights are on, it's truly pretty. My friends' trees without tinsel look like cakes without icing.

I have a picture of my small son trying to put it into his mouth. When he was a little older he told me he thought it was spaghetti............that was in 1976............I still like tinsel but don't have the patience to put it on or off!

Oh my gosh yes..we did when I was a kid..i forgot about the angel hair..it used to make me itchy but I loved pulling it apart and putting it just so on the tree.. thanks for that forgotten memory I am enjoying the thoughts of christmas past....

Yes, I remember. We used silver icicles, but not the angel hair because it hurt if it got onto your skin. I think it was made out of spun glass. My dad had cuts all over his hands after decorating with it.

Yes. My grandmother was very patient in placing a strand at a time and would kept them all at the same length. After Christmas, she would take each strand off and package the lot for the next Christmas.

My Mom uses tinsel, that she puts on one at time, then takes off one at time and saves for next year.

Yes. I was one of them. Angel hair looked so good at night, nested around each bulb.

It hasn't been that long since tinsel was used. Some still use it.

Sure. The were lead first and later aluminum coated mylar.

Yes, and still do with the silver icicles..=).

I sure do! We did that for many many years!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
