I love to share Maybe I am not as competitive as others, but I really like to share recipes. And I like to get them from others, especially handwritten ones. It is fun to get those papers out and look at them and remember the times we were together.
And when I have shared, I often get a phone call after a person cooks it because they too had those fond memories.
I share 'em. If someone has enjoyed food that I've prepared, and they ask for the recipe, I find it flattering so say the least. I'm more than happy to pass on any recipes I'm asked for.
And I like use other people's recipes too. It's nice to be able to make something different every once in a while. Sometimes it's a recipe for something that I've made before, but it tasted a lot better than mine, so I always appreciate anything that will make my cooking/baking/food preparation bettter.

Most of the times I do share but sometimes I hesitate. I hesitate and it's not due to wanting to keep our family recipes exclusive to only our family. We have recipes that have been handed down from past generations from my grandmother in New Orleans who was an incredible cook and from our former area which is well known for many cajun specialities.
I only hesitate because we have often discussed going into a food related business and if we do, I don't want to give away the recipes to everyone ahead of time. If this were not the case, I would gladly share every recipe with anyone. I wouldn't want to act like it was some secret recipe that no one can have but us.It's not like that for me.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
