Do you think it's fair to take away collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin?

To remove union rights are something that belong in an authoritarian regime and certainly not fair or suitable for a country that is supposed to stand up for democratic rights, like the freedom to organize. The US has since 9/11 taken a further step away from democracy in the name of the economy and security. The Gov should look at countries that have managed to overcome the global economy crisis through other means then restricting citizen rights.

Sweden for example could be a good source of inspiration were unions has not been restricted. People in all professions has a major disadvantage on the work market because of the companies for the most part are only interested in giving profit. Don't misunderstand me profit is good, but sometimes(mostly) companies are only responsible towards its shareholders, then profit on the workers expense becomes a fact and the profit gets taken out from the pockets of the workers(Lawyer firm as well as pie factory).

A company will some years give more profit then other years and does other years should not be compensated with taken money from the workers so that they must live paycheck to paycheck for the bosses enrichment.

No it is not fair. Teachers are the backbone of our country future in educating our children through all grade levels and college. Taking unions away from teachers and not policeman nor firefighters in Wisconsin shows that the governor is a coward and taking the least resistance in getting unions to disappear in America and have a class of working people that is not much better off than the slaves that we had to build our country when we began back in the 1600's.No real consequence to pick on the teachers in Wisconsin.

The worst results will be schools are closed. If the governor would have also included the policeman and firefighters unions there would have been the state having burning buildings and cities going up in smoke and riots and disorder throughout the state with the unions for the policeman. Notice how the police and firefighters unions stayed silent during this ordeal.

They do not care about the teachers unions or they would have come out openly to support them and you would have seen an different result. At least the governor was open about this disgusting deal in taking the union away for teachers. This is corrupt and immoral to the teachers and every working person in the United States and around the world.

We might as well have Ghadafi as governor of Wisconsin as abusive as this is to the teachers collective bargaining rights in Wisconsin.

Yes it is fair. Unions force members to pay dues. They force employees to join the union even if they choose not to.

I have never been to a unionize employer that the union would allow one to work without being a member. Kinda defeats personal choice don't you think. Unions renegotiate contracts for more money every time a contract expires.

Union members pay less for health care than do other workers. Simple economics tells this it WILL drive up cost for the consumer. It can be said that unions fight for the working man.

Maybe so but how does this help those that buy the product? It simply doesn't as when the union gets more money the company has to raise prices to give more money. As for teachers being the backbone of the country, think again.

Children are dumber today than the were 30 years ago. Sure they can work a computer and Xbox, but sadly fail in knowledge of true history, math and science. We do not even make most the products we use in this country.

We do not have the knowledge so we have to outsource, another product of unions escalating cost all in the name of its members.

You know, Wisconsin was the home, Madison was the home in 1936 of the AFSCME, the first public service workers union. In 1959, Gaylord Nelson, who everybody knows is the father of Earth Day -- at that point, he was governor of the state of Wisconsin -- signed into law the first law in the country that allowed non-federal workers the opportunity to collectively bargain. We are hearing on the streets the people who are protesting this are most angry that they don't feel that they have had an opportunity to negotiate this with the governor.

RAY SUAREZ: Are some state workers exempt from the provision that would take away collective bargaining rights? ADAM SCHRAGER: Some of the -- some of the law enforcement folks are exempt. And the governor says he has exempted them specifically because the state cannot afford a strike, say, by police or a strike, say, by firefighters.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
