It is really hard to say whether or not Miss Oklahoma would have won the Miss USA pageant if she had been asked a different question, but I do think that question hurt her chances a great deal. I think the controversy over Carrie Prejean's answer to a political question concerning same sex marriage the previous year still resonates with a lot of people, and hot button topics concerning controversial political or religious issues always open the door for judges to vote with much more prejudice based on their personal feelings about the topic. Although I disagree with Morgan Elizabeth Woolard's point of view on the Arizona immigration law, I do not think it is fair to base the pageant or the results of the interview round on the point of view presented.
Answers should be judged more on how well the contestant answers the question and what information is being used to support that answer. Personally, I don't blame the fact that Miss Oklahoma did not win the Miss USA pageant on the way that she answered the question as much as I blame it on the type of question that was asked. Miss Michigan Rima Fakih was asked a fairly straightforward question that few people could disagree with, and I don't think that aspect of the competition was very balanced.
Being from Oklahoma, I can tell you that Morgan Woolard will always be a winner in our books, and we are very proud of her. Even if you do not agree with beauty pageants, you can agree with personal triumphs. Morgan is very intelligent as well as beautiful.
She has overcome Lupus, after struggling with the illness for a number of years. She also sold her car to make it to this competition, so I admire her courage and commitment, regardless of the results. Oh, and since neither of the pictures above are actually of Morgan Woolard, I will attach a few here.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
