No. It's a lot safer than sending humans at this point in history, although sending humans is a lot more romantic, not to mention, dramatic. Since we know have the intellectual ability to attempt to satisfy our curiosity, we are obligated to make the attempt. If some of us are happy with the idea that our planet was constructed in 6 days by some Mesopotamian imagined man-like figure in the sky, we should allow them their assumption but in no way, allow such thought processes to hamper our quest for knowledge.

“To each his own”, the few will do the innovation and accumulation of actual knowledge. We will all happily take credit for the efforts of the few.
