There are a few reasons why people feel it would be better if the crown passed to William. Most of the reasons are misinformed and opinions that have been stirred up by the press, rather than convictions held by those who their views. The most vocal reason in the last fifteen years has been the overwhelming support of many people for the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Panorama interview of 1995 brought to light the relationship between Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall with the famous "there were three of us in this marriage so it was a bit crowded". This triggered hatred towards the Duchess of Cornwall who of course was dubbed the "other woman". It was a soap opera gone mad which as good as ended the war of the Wales's of the early 1990's.

The second reason is predominately due to the advancing age of the Prince of Wales who is in his late sixties. The idea of a coronation or someone who could inherit the throne as late as in his 80's has caused some concern for a lot of people. This has been further highlighted by the former Queen Regnant of the Netherlands, Princess Beatrix decision to abdicate who is also in her 70's in favor of her son King Willem-Alexander and his young wife, Queen Maxima.

Basically the perception for some is if the Queen of the Netherlands can do it, Charles should step aside. On a side note, a lot of Britons want to adapt the British Monarchy to mimic that of Scandanavian Royals where protocol and mystique are abandoned in favour of a more celebrity style Monarchy where the Royals are seen and are "first among equals" so to speak. The final reason is that people simply find the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to embody everything that Charles and Camilla don't whilst also embracing the notion of behaving in the same way as the Scandinavian Royals thereby killing two birds with one stone.

Personally however I feel it would be better if Charles succeeded. That way he could be the last link to the past passing over the baton later to the newer generation, handing out words of wisdom and guidance in the process whilst also allowing William and Catherine to have time to enjoy their youth and young Family before taking on the responsibility which they will inevitably one day inherit.

Edward has given a really good answer. I'd say two things: 1. Prince Charles is not much liked by the many fans of his first wife, Diana.

He certainly committed adultery during their marriage - but then, so did she. To be honest, he never should have married her. They had nothing in common - he's very much in the old-fashioned mould and she wasn't.

He's much happier now he is married to Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. They knew each other before he ever met Diana. 2.

Prince Charles is seen as a bit eccentric. He's shut up about this in recent years but I remember all the jokes about him talking to plants and his comments on modern architecture. He's also said he wants to be "Defender of Faith" rather than "Defender of the Faith" (a traditional title of the British monarch) and that makes no sense.

Edward is wrong about his age though - he's 64, not late sixties. Yes, Prince William is in the RAF, but that's just a traditional thing for the Royal Family. Prince Charles has done his time in the armed forces too.

I remember him being a Royal Navy officer in the 1970s and commanding the ship HMS Bronington. And Prince Andrew being a pilot during the Falklands War in 1982. It comes down to William just looking more "in touch" with the modern world, and the one good thing about him being the son of Charles and Diana is that she did that for him.

He also learned from what happened to Diana and didn't get married to Kate Middleton until they were absolutely sure and she could cope with royal life and publicity. He knows he's going to be king one day and there's no getting out of it. It's true Prince Charles probably won't be king for very long because of age - as I say, he's 64, and his mother is doing well for 87.

Her mother lived to be 101 - maybe she might too! Queen Elizabeth II has said she will never abdicate, so when Prince Charles becomes king he's going to be getting on a bit... people live so much longer these days so if kings or queens stay until death we're always going to have a pensioner on the throne. I rather like the Dutch model.

Their last three monarchs have all abdicated as a way of retiring so now they have King Willem-Alexander, a popular man in his mid-40s. Prince William, unlike Prince Charles, hasn't annoyed anyone yet.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
