Do you think the Government should post pone the Digital change over?

Obama has asked Congress to again post pone the switch over from Analog to Digital. Saying the Government has run out of money to give out any more credits on the $40.00 converter box. There is about 12% of the population that need these boxes, only people that get there signal from over the air broadcast.

Now they have had over three years to prepare for this, yet they did nothing. Two years ago Congress said okay we are post pone this switch over till February 17, 2009. They got a extra two year to get prepared.

But again they did nothing. I feel if the postpone it again the same thing is going to happen they are not going to do anything till they are forced to do it. Also why are we catering to 12% of the population?

The cost for a converter box is cheap $40.00 Some people spend more than that on cigarettes and booze. Your thoughts please! Asked by Delvet 35 months ago Similar questions: Government post pone Digital change Politics & Law > Politics.

SO much we Don't know Ok this is going to sound slightly bizarre but.... In one of my upper level Sociology classes we watch a documentary about something called ' The Digital Spectrum. ' The jest of it- we as citizens OWN every single ( which will be infinite because it is no longer analogue) channel and have to right to 'sell' it, not individually, but this is something we own as a whole. A few years ago legislative voted on making the digital spectrum to basically be sold at sort of like an auction... which is now owned by 3 major companies.

Most of it went to Time-Warner for a 7 year contract, for over 4 billion dollars. It is hard to do research on such a subject.... You can only find News Bleeps because of course the news companies do NOT want to put themselves in negative light. It makes no difference to me, but I thought I'd share some info about the digital spectrum.

Happy New year .

2 The only concern I have is for generator-powered TVs, like you would take on a camping trip or use if the power goes out. As for the procrastinators--tough toenails.

They have spent a lot of money upgrading hardware and have a changeover scheduled that would get disrupted if it were delayed. It would cost them a lot of money. It has already cost them money to replace money making commercials with the announcements. What I heard is that all the coupons have been issued and they are waiting for them to expire before they can issue new ones since there was only a limited amount of money allocated for coupons.

People can still buy the boxes without a coupon. This user has been banned from Askville.

Why did the Chinese government change the name of Peking......

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
