A right is guaranteed by law at the federal level. (i.e. Bill of rights and amendments to the constitution) Individuals and state governments can not legally take away something that is granted as a right.
Privileges in contrast are not guaranteed by the federal government so can be granted or taken away. The fact they are granted, but not guaranteed and therefore can be taken away is what makes them a privilege, and not a right. Many people claim people have rights, that in fact are not rights at all.
I see you've taken a step towards accepting your privileges, instead of citing "individual choice." Good for you. Rights are not, as some people claim, the same as needs.
We have no fundamental right to food, shelter, medical attention, or sex, regardless of how much we might need them. As I see it, we should all have rights to defend ourselves, to be free of harm from others, to own the fruits of our labors and spend them as we please, and to express our beliefs as we please.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
