Lo-fi solutions for screen capture: If you have Mac OSX, it's easy to use the built-in key commands for grabbing a screen. * Press Command (Apple)-Shift-4. The pointer turns into a bull's eye.
* Select the area of the screen you wish to capture. The screen is captured and saved as a PDF file called Picture 1 on your hard drive. * If you hold down the Control key in addition to the Command (Apple)-Shirt-4 while clicking the bull's eye, the image is stored on the clipboard.
Windows Screen Capture The PRINT SCREEN key allows you to capture the Desktop or individual windows. You'll have to look for this key on your keyboard, it's placement varies with the type of keyboard. To capture the entire screen: * Press the PRINT SCREEN key.

A screen shot your the currently selected window will be placed on the keyboard.
I'm a big fan of Ctl-Alt-PrtScr. Into Paint. :) Simple, easy and free.
I've always used Snagit for screen capture. It is pretty straight forward and easy to use. It has similar features to what you are talking about with the ability to grab the whole screen, a window, or a section of the screen.
Then you can use arrows to point at something on the snagged image or write comments directly on the image. See the feature list in the source section.
Jing is a great screen capture program, plus it can record video.
Skitch is unbelievable, I can't imagine living without it. I like it because it archives grabs for you so you don't have to clean up Picture 1, Picture 2 etc... from your desktop. Plus, it's got a great time-delay feature (hold down shift while setting your screen grab area) so you can take a screen grab of a roll over effect or some action that requires your mouse.
Skitch is great in allot of ways, hate that the app 'expires' and you HAVE to update. Jing project is nice, but I'm really in love with Skitch.
Evernote, Clipmarks and Screengrab are my top three - but the order varies. Not really looked at Skitch, but looks to be Mac only for now... =.
I use the firefox plugin called Screengrab!
My favorite is Snag-It. Firefox has an extension for snag-it as well. I couldn't live without snag-it, but I will look into Skitch - sounds interesting.
Did you try GRABZILLA. Grabzilla is simple, easy to use, fast, work with print screen buton. You can choose jpg, bmp, gif; whole screen or just windows. It's my favorite.
I think if you try you will also become a favorite!
LittleSnapper for OS X. It's pricey. I was skeptical.
But the second I started using it, there was absolutely no going back. If it's right for you, you'll know it within minutes. - Editing - Choose specific elements on page to capture - Full page captures - Auto saves site URL - Tagging - Starring (1,2,3,4,5 Stars for further organization) - Collections (category folders) - Excellent online user gallery to find further inspiration ... I've used Jing, Screengrab, Skitch, SnapNDrag, Paparazzi, Netfixer .. .
Most recently just been going with the OS X shortcuts and pasting straight into Photoshop to edit.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
