Yes the dog sounds like it has an ear infection, mine gets one and does the same thing every year about this time. Go ahead to the vet before it gets too painful for the doggy. I feel so bad for the little guy hes cursed with it.
The first thing that I would do is check for ear mites. Gently fold your dog's ear back and look inside. Blackish gunk usually means ear mites.
The vet can recommend a good treatment for this. She could also have a tick, or fleas, or a cut or scrape. You'll be able to see any of these just by looking, and can take appropriate steps to make your furry friend more comfortable when you know what's making her itchy.
