Does anyone have biographical information about the artist, Edward Marion Langley?

Langley was born in London, England in 1870. S parents abandoned him in Australia then he made his way to Canada. Not satisfied he again took a trip must have been very boring because he traveled by himself in a canoe down to the Gulf of Mexico.

He became a U.S. citizen in 1904 and helped work on the motion picture camera. In 1917 he lived in Holliwood in the 1930's and rented a duplex on Argil. Once in the big city of bright lights, he helped produce a few movies."The Spoilers", "Three Musketeers", "Zorro", and "Theif of Bagdad".

S home became a gathering area for artists and those in the film business. He liked to play "Jacks" and sometimes gave paintings away to his friends as gifts. However, when he was painting in Japan.

War broke out and he became a prisoner until 1943. Upon release, he moved to California to teach art classes. He died in Los Angeles on May 11, 1949.

Iburmaster, thanks for your reply which raises more questions than answers. I already have all the information you offered, but thanks. I gleaned all this from the only biog material I could find which was from an art-sale site.

The fact that he helped to develop the first movie camera surely sets him apart from the ordinary run-of-the-mill movie people of the time.

I would like to write a Hub about him but I don't have enough info yet. It seems as though there is little material on him.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
