Call large stores like Target, TJ Maxx, Wal-mart, Sams Club etc. They normally get shipments of items on the same day or days of the week, and they just throw out their boxes. You can get cardboard boxes form any store like this or even restaurants if you just call and ask. I got all of my moving boxes this way.
The USPS supplies free cardboard boxes for Ebay sellers if you use priority mail. Anyone can get them just don't abuse the privilege. You can pick up the boxes at the post office or order them online at no cost.
You can get lots of used cardboard from stores they usually have tons of it out back.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
