Being under some influence by my sister I tried Feng Shui when I renovated our home years ago. There was some uncomfortable times with teenagers and we thought we'd give it a go :) The colour scheme was worked out for myself and my kids around the house and which rooms they should be in. We added mirrors, especially around the front door.
We also took away many open book cases and added guardians at the doors to the house. So we didn't completely change everything around but we did incorporate peaceful elements and protective elements around the home. Did it make a difference? No.
Not one bit. There was no additional home harmony, in fact one of the children moved out within months of moving into the new room. The home suffered over the next few months as well.
Broken doors, appliances broken. A terrace out the back collapsed. I remember talking to my sister as the months went on saying if Feng Shui really worked then I'd not be going through all this.
I'm certainly glad it didn't cost me much money to try. That was the good thing about a lot of feng shui items - you can change things pretty easily and without too much effort. But for me I'll think I'll stick to what I like, and not what someone tells me will work :).
Is it beautiful?' 'Is it useful?' were 2 questions the de-clutter lady gave me when she came to assess my room. Somehow this visit gave me the oomph I was looking for. Former housemate comes regularly to de clutter his share.
He also asks me 'keep or bin?' which really helps. Good luck everyone and remember-try and get someone with outsider view-to help you as my ex housemate does.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
