Does buying in bulk offer the best savings?

In principle it is a good idea to bulk buy to save money, you are not wasting money on packaging for one thing. Having said that, it is not quite as simple as it sounds. For one thing you need to make sure that whatever you are buying in quantity, you are able to use before it is out of date, another point is that you need adequate storage space.

There is little point in stocking up with flour, for instance, just because it's on special. If you don't bake that often, the fact that you have bought ten extra bags does not mean you will suddenly turn into a cake and pastry chef! Or, because artichokes are cheap one time, doesn't follow that you will suddenly develop a passion for them.(I can't bear them!) One way round these sorts of problems is to form a sort of Co-Op with a group of friends.

This way you can all benefit from bulk buying prices, if you share out the goods. I have put some links to sites for you below. I live in Spain, so I can't recommend the best stores for you to buy in bulk from in the U.S. But some of the sites do mention this, along with other useful advice.

Buying in bulk can save you money if the food does not go to waste. For instance once you have opened a large can of spaghetti sauce you need to be able to place what you don’t use into a container that can be frozen so it is saved for the next time you want to use it. If there is more than you need for one meal than you would want to split it up into meal size portions for freezing.

Most grocery stores have meat packaged in family sizes and you can save by buying those large portions, then split it up when you get it home. Place the meat into meal size portions and freeze it as such. Freezer style baggies are good for that.

You want to split anything that will go into the freezer into meal size portions before you freeze it. Otherwise you will have to thaw it all out and cook it all at one time. It depends on where you live as to what stores might sell in bulk.

Winco or Smart and Final are good stores to check out if they are in your area. Otherwise ask your friends, or even a store clerk which stores sell food in bulk. They are becoming more popular these days because of the economy.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
