Ok, I'm young black and I play basketball. I also love rap. I think the only thing even a little inappropriate is "Tony Montana."
He's a character from Scarface a rated R movie about drugs. I don't know what song that is though or how it relates to basketball so maybe he's saying it in a different context. All of the rest is just basketball slang.
"He got the burner" in this context does just mean a good shot. It has nothing to do with a gun. White people say stuff like "he's on fire" does that mean he's literally on fire?
No, it's about context. "Easy come up." Isn't "gang related."
Yeah a lot of gangsters say it but so do a lot of non-gangsters. It just means what it means. If someone is dribbling the ball high he's an "easy come up."
It means he's easy to steal the ball from. Gangsters use it for like someone who is showing off in the "hood" but doesn't have a gun on him or can't defend himself. He's essentially an "easy come up."
You can take his stuff with impunity. "Wetball" just means a good shot. All races say this.
I think white kids probably say it more now as black kids say "burner" more (at least where I'm from.) So yeah, I think you are being a little prejudice. If it was white slang he was learning would you care? If he was saying "Totally wicked awesome" would you care?
If yes then maybe you just hate slang. If no, then yeah you might be a little prejudice against black culture.
Be honest, if rap culture was by white people, there wouldn't be much of a problem here. I still don't know the problem. The coach sounds like a fun guy.
You seem to be making a big deal out of nothing. Kids are gonna be exposed to rap because its extremely popular. Your child is not gonna turn into a drug dealer because he has a black coach.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
