I see this trend more and more now that businesses are oursourcing entire segements of their business to other countries because it can save money. Will out own competetive nature eventually do us in, in that we won;t have jobs ourselves anymore? Depends on the skill set I work for a software company that outsources part of the work to India, and they actually don't save money doing it. After you account for all the inefficiencies (projects take longer) and overhead, it's about a wash, even though labor costs are about 1/3 over there. They do it, because they can't find enough qualified candidates locally, quickly enough when big projects come in.
They would much prefer to hire locally. So, no, if you have the skillset, you will be able to find a job here. But yeah, if you don't, things might look a bit bleaker.
And with as little emphasis as is put on public education in the US, it's probably going to get tougher for a large segment of the US population.
Yes Overall, I think the number of jobs available for US citizens is falling because the outsourcing. However, if there were enough of a push, from customers who can't get decent customer service, miscommunication with foreign programmers, etc. , which does happen every so often, that can partially reverse. Manufacturing and other lower end jobs will definitely go, but the big thing would be creation of new higher end jobs which can't be done well overseas.
Plenty of Jobs in America There are plenty of jobs in America. Job market is shifting, if you have the right skills, you will have the right jobs. The need for economy to re-invent itself, job shifting, people losing and gaining jobs, has always been part of a free economy. I am sound heartless, but unfortunately, there is very little can be done against progress.
May be the government can try to protect jobs by passing laws to tax companies which outsource at higher rate, but history has shown that letting government to dictate the economic direction is almost always a bad idea. For example, there are plenty of high-paying jobs in Silicon Valley right now.
Ohhhh, is this a thorn in my side! Yes, yes, yes, yes . .. BUT, the problem is that (IMHO) the companies going out of the country don't want to pay enough to the people here who are looking for jobs.
I called my mortgage company to ask a question about my real estate taxes and I got someone in New Delhi, India .. . Didn't have a clue what I was asking. I was put on hold forever, then I hung up - called back and got another guy in the same place .. .
I finally called back a couple of days later and asked to speak to someone here in the United States. It's frustrating -- our escrow pays our real estate taxes, but we received a bill from the county for the taxes. Our mortgage company merged with another BIG one this year and I was concerned that they hadn't received the bill since I did and never had before.
The two people in India could only say "we will pay it. " Ok, HOW? I have the freaking bill!?!?Grrrrr.
Solution to this? American companies need to start paying their employees and not be so cheap as to think that they should go out of the country..
It's true; and the trend is still going that way This is absolutely true. I can say this because I'm working in a big company having 4 major branches in Asia. It looks understandable in terms of business point of view to outsource other countries because the labor cost is much much cheaper, and, most important, Asian culture makes them obsess in working a lot.
Who will deny workers who receive less salary comparing to US workers and work like crazy? For example, Senior engineer in US may receive gross salary around $80k - $90k; in the meantime, Senior engineer in Asia may receive up to only $20k. Company can hire 4 people in Asia and pay salary equivalent to 1 US worker... However, there is a bad effect to our American as we lose many opportunities to get jobs.
Anyway, on the bright side, US business can grow up very well with this strategy. I think it should be governement responsibility to control this kind of situation and compromise between business, revenue and American's job opportunities. Sources: Myself .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
