The meaning of life is simple. Live life, be happy, do what you enjoy, enjoy others while you can, and respect one another. Thats what I believe. Is it some deep epiphany no, but sometimes I think people just overhtink things.
Thanks for an interesting Question/s! I think life does have a purpose. A learning curve for a bigger picture to add a piece of the jigsaw (this life) to when we return to the here after, from where we came.It seems most, or all choices we make have a purpose.
Some provide a better learning curve than others. Isn't the main purpose in life, to achieve something? A higher standard, certificates of excellence, a better, safer way/s of doing things.
If so your next question answers itself. Do the best you can with what you can do. Your last question is most interesting.
How do we define the word? If a button is depressed it is assumed to be held down.In the same way unfortunate humans get their motivations, hopes, and attempts to turn dreams into reality quashed by many constraining factors. Too many to list here.
And I think you're right if indeed you implied that this is or entails a lack of direction and/or PURPOSE! Thanks again for your question...
I believe it was Camus who said, and I paraphrase, that we can not get bogged down in the metaphysical. Of course, if we knew the true purpose of life, or knew that there was not one, it would be easier to make certain choices. However, we do not know these things.
What to do then? Solidarity. We as humans are all we have, and the best we can do is recognize what is right and wrong universally and live in peace.
Whatever comes comes, but to agonize over metaphysics leads one to make improper choices and lose sight of what we should spend time on to improve society and the world that we know exists.
You have just given me a new topic to write about, and I will let you know in my next next Hub.
Yes, for it establishes our unique and collective existence. If we fail to exist, what purpose would we have to manifest. We discover our purpose in life through self-awareness and our best to apply the gifts within us to cultivate and clarify our contribution to humanity, for the gift of life we have been given. No, a lack of meaning in life is related to ignorance, while depression is related to the reaction to the absence of its understanding that can and does have many variations depending upon one's interpretation and management or lack of it.
I would like to start by saying I am neither knowledgeable or experienced. I can only give my input. I find that doing something creative or constructive (no I'm not a youth counselor hahaha) seems to give life for me at least the feeling of purpose.
Putting an arrow on that purpose is more difficult. No one can say they 100% know their purpose. Just remember, if you truly think there is purpose but just haven't found it.
Keep looking. You never know where you might find it or you may make it to the end of your life and realize that looking for the purpose was the purpose.
There is a reason that humanity does not know its purpose. If we knew our purpose then we could knowingly go against that purpose. Either it is up to each of us to discover our own individual purposes.
Or perhaps there are no individual purposes. Maybe our only purpose is to make the world a better place for future generations, or maybe there is no purpose for us. To live a meaningful life one must do something that will mean something to others, make a change in the world or whatever.
That I leave up to you to decide... Like I said before, there's a reason we don't know our purpose. And I don't think we ever will, but, then again, it doesn't really matter.
I have never witnessed any other form of life on the planet do anything else besides just living...that appears to be their purpose. It seems to me that if life comes with the condition that we are supposed to be doing something meaningful then the plants, the birds, and the fish are living rather meaningless, unproductive lives (lazy freeloaders). Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned from them because if we make the dangerous assumption that there is a purpose to life we leave ourselves open to feel inadequate and depressed when we don't find our specific purpose.
I like to think of it this way; If you get home and you see a note on the table with some instructions on it you know that you've got something to do and if there's no note you assume that you can just relax. If we could ask life "What is our purpose? " I believe the answer would be "Did you see a note on the table?...
The universe has nobody to teach it anything. If you have nobody to teach you, you need to learn by trial and error. Consequently we all are a part of an incredibly large experiment. To me, this is more than enough reason and justification for my existence.
It makes me part of a meaningful process.
Life is only worthy of the name when it expresses reality in action. It is what gives meaning and beauty to life. To be real to ourselves and to be real to others; this is our sole duty as human beings. To express what we are in reality as opposed to what we THINK we are is the purpose of life.
A meaningful life is to do what needs to be done and not what we would like or think should be done. To meet the necessity of the moment is all we need to do.
Everything ... Existent In Creation ... Hath been Created with a Purpose ... Your Present Purpose, is to Search, Why, you were Created ... you will sooner than later find the answer ... All the rest, will thenceforth follow.
To answer the question, I have to go back to when there was no life. And that is as vivid in my imagination. What was my purpose of coming from no life to life?
I do not think that I could have known, but looking back, the only thing that comes out of the picture is caring for those who cared for me. As far as finding a purpose, it is our innate curiosity to seek it and it is determined by correspondences and similarities. It is the attraction that makes life meaningful and things and people are not attracted to dissimilar things.
And lack of meaning in life is a choice of not giving meaning to life and depression is the result of the lack of a substance in your brain. Life is wonderfully controlled by Love.
Life is easier if you don't have to do anything. Just let it happen.
I had a near death experience and met an entity that gave me the answer to this. It is a long answerIt starts with another question. Why does life seek to survive?
The answer is that all of life has a common energy that makes it want to survive. It joins all of life to all of live. If it did not exist niether would live and the value of our entertainment would therefore be lost.
Think about life from the simplest on the earth to the most complex. As life progresses so does the need for more diverse and complex entertainment. Lets take a dog for example.
They like to play, fetch a stick, go hunting. Take a person. They like to read books, write books, watch movies, play computer games.
Thousands of things. A dog cannot conceptualize what it is to read a book for entertainment, or even know what at book represents. But, man and dog get along pretty good as we can share some common ground.
However a dog does not have the ability to conceptualize what we are all about. The same is true with the creator. We are entertainment, but not in a way that can be conceptualized by us.
The creator is beyond what we can imagine. He communicates at a level we cannot conceptualize. If you could take a dog mind and upload it to your brain, the dog would instantly know everything you know and know everything you conceptualized.
Then you take the dog mind and put him back in his dog brain and he would not know how to conceptualize reading a book anymore because his brain just cannot handle it, but he would know something happened. That happened to me.
Life is just part of existence. There is no purpose for existence; it just is. There is no purpose for life; it just is.
Since you are here, it is up to YOU to determine what your purpose is. You can listen to others, even wacko religionists, as to what your purpose should be, but it is up to YOU. Anyone -- religious wackos -- telling you that your purpose SHOULD be to worship their imaginary "god" or do "god's" work is either a charlatan, a fool, or delusional.
I will come back to this one. I need to search something. Yes and Yes we were created by God for God.
Each individual on Earth has a divine purpose. We also have free will. We all fall short of the Glory of God.. We have a purpose and a plan.
The hard thing is staying in the will of God. Many are lost. They do not know the truth.
They choose with free will their destiny. They will have many opportunities to recieve Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and the empty heart will be filled with the Love of Christ. ..( To be Born again.) If not a believer you are not in Gods will for your life.
God will go after his lost sheep. He Loves you. He Created us with free will to choose light or dark, good or evil, heaven or hell.
He stands at the door and waits. He weeps for the lost. He commands believers to share the good news of the Gospel with others so that they may be saved.
. With that being said I will come back. Love, Patti I will return I can take any feed back.
No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Jesus is the way, truth and life.(Love Never Fails) 1 Cor. John 3:16 and / or Romans10:9-10.
As A Man sic Thinketh In s sic Heart So Is He sic.
The meaning of life is to survive on two levels, the macro level and the micro level. The macro level is the survival of the species and the micro is survival of the individual.
Depression is a medical condition believed to be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Sadness is something else altogether. I subscribe to the idea that emotions are illusion and signify the body's reaction to a thought.
This does not mean we should ignore them, but rather we need to put them in perspective. If you want to live a meaningful life - ignore visions of grandeur and immerse yourself in the company of good friends.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
